Scales should be played in complete octaves, winds tongued and strings detaché in the following rhythmic pattern:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Extra points are awarded for string scales which exceed the octave requirements for Junior District only.

The Chromatic scale, played within the range designated below, should be slurred in eighth note triplets.
Tempo for scales at the Junior District level is MM quarter note = 84 (Trombone and Tuba at 60).
