2025–2026 Junior Festival Audition Requirements

Audition Piece:
"Alleluia" is sung as a round with the recording below.
The singer enters at measure 5 and sings the round twice through.
Choose the key that best suits the singer.
Scales:
Students must sing a major scale as written on this scale sheet.
The recording below will be used to provide the starting pitch and tempo.
Sight-Reading:
A short excerpt will be provided for sight-reading.
Students will be given one minute to look at it before starting.
All methods of sight-singing are acceptable (solfege, numbers, neutral syllables).

The sight-reading excerpt will meet these criteria:

It will be in the same major key as the scale.

It will be in 4/4 time.

It will begin and end on the tonic.

It will consist almost entirely of scalar motion; any leaps will be to the tonic.

Rhythms may include whole, half, quarter, and eighth notes.
