April Is In My Mistress' Face – Thomas Morley, ed. Churchill

Published by Bourne Co.

  • Soprano: C4 to C6

  • Alto: G3 to F5

  • Tenor: B2 to A4

  • Bass: E2 to E4

Sight-Reading:

A sight-reading excerpt will be provided and will meet these criteria:

  • It will be in a comfortable range for each voice part.

  • It will be in a major key, in 4/4 time.

  • It will begin and end on the tonic.

  • It will consist of scalar motion and triadic leaps.

  • Rhythms may include whole, half, quarter, and eighth notes, as well as dotted quarter/eighth note combinations.

Here are samples of comparable difficulty.

Students will be given the starting pitch and 30 seconds to look at the example. All methods of sight-singing are acceptable (solfege, numbers, neutral syllables).

Scales:

Students will be asked to sing a major scale as written on this scale sheet
