  • We're looking forward to an amazing Junior District festival, starting with a rehearsal this weekend at Belchertown High School from 9-3. There, we will have our March board meeting at 1 p.m. in the cafeteria, with lunch provided. There will also be a professional development session on advocacy: 

    • Advocating Through Impact: Creating positive and impactful stories to demonstrate the power of music education (District Provided PD): Rm. B218 (up the stairs near Jazz Band); 10:00 - 11:30.

  • Our board meeting on April 2nd will take place at Lenox High School at 4:30, as we continue the "SuperWest" tradition. Hope to see you there!

  • Our Spring Dinner Meeting will take place on May 7th at Red Rose Pizzeria in Springfield at 4:30 p.m. More information to follow.

  • MMEA-WD is now authorized to award Professional Development Points to teachers who attended at least 10 hours of Western District activities this school year. To earn your PDP certificate, fill out this form by June 15th.

Registration for the Junior Festival has been posted at the Junior Forms and Registration page. Registration is due February 8th at 5 p.m.

We look forward to seeing Senior Festival participants at UMass the next two Saturdays!

Congratulations to those who were accepted to the Senior District Festival! Registration forms for the festival have been posted and are due on December 14th. The advance ticket order form for the Senior Festival has also been posted--please distribute that to students/ families.

 

Also, remember that Junior Audition materials are due November 16th.

Designated supervisor forms have been posted for both junior and senior auditions. Additionally, a revised senior instruction booklet and a revised junior endorsement form have been added.

Registration and endorsement forms for this year's Junior Auditions have been posted. Please note that there are changes to the deadlines and fee schedule for this year. 

Additionally, please note that we have changed the scale requirements for the Senior Vocal audition. Students will now sing an eight-note scale--from do to do and back down--instead of a nine-note scale. This matches the scale process at All-State auditions.

A revised percussion rubric has been added to the sample adjudication form pages. This new rubric will be in effect for both Junior and Senior Auditions for 2018-2019. Additionally, the complete jazz audition rotation has been posted.

Registration and endorsement forms for this year's Senior Auditions have been posted. Please note that there are changes to the deadlines and fee schedule for this year. 

Additionally, the application for the 2018-2019 MMEA-WD Music Education Scholarship has been posted. Seniors intending to pursue music education as a career should consider applying!

All MMEA members are encouraged to attend the fall dinner meeting at Red Rose in Springfield on Tuesday, October 2nd! See this flyer for more details.

Welcome to the newly redesigned Western District website! We hope you enjoy some of the new features added to the site, including our meeting minutes page, our job board, and the complete audition rotation for several instruments.

Registration information for the 2018-2019 District Festivals will be posted shortly. In the meantime, all audition information has been updated for the coming year.
